Ogdensburg Budget Passes, Sewer Rates Going Up

Tools

Ogdensburg city taxpayers will be paying more for sewer services next year under a $19.1 million budget approved Monday night by the city council.

The city sewer rates will jump $52 from $316 to $368 for flat fee users and to $5.62 per 1,000 gallons for metered users.

City officials say the increase was necessary to cover the costs of drainage improvements at the wastewater treatment plant.

It will also help cover the cost of a new storm water retaining tank the city plans to install by 2020.

The budget does not contain any property tax increase or water rate increase.
