Ogdensburg Men Indicted In 2010 Robbery, Murder Of Elderly ManThree Ogdensburg men remain jailed without bail in connection with the alleged November 2010 robbery and murder of an 83 year old man in what investigators say was a drug-related crime. All three were named in sealed indictments opened Tuesday morning in St. Lawrence County Court. Lawton's roommate, 64 year old Guy Bartlett, told police he answered a knock at the door of their Ford Street apartment and the three masked men stormed inside. Both Bartlett and Lawton were attacked, but Bartlett escaped injury. Money and pills were allegedly stolen. Lawton died after his roommate, 64 year old Guy Bartlett, fell onto him as he struggled with the assailants. Despite an eyewitness account of the attack, it took authorities more than 19 months to build their case against the three suspects. An autopsy showed Lawton died from blunt force trauma to his abdomen. Lawton was the stepbrother of murder victim Bernard Trickey Jr.'s father, Pete Trickey. Investigators say there is no connection between the two cases. Trickey, also of Ogdensburg, was murdered with a baseball bat in August 2005. Wayne Oxley was acquitted of his murder in a third trial in February. See our original story of Lawton's death. |
