Ogdensburg Officials Approve Deal To Let Family Live In Controversial Home

While Ogdensburg taxpayers still await the results of an investigation into the handling of a city-owned property, city officials have approved a deal to let a family continue to live there.

Controversy erupted several months ago when it was learned that a family had been living at 819 Knox Street rent and tax free for three years.

In the agreement approved by city council Monday night, the family will pay $650 a month in rent, plus taxes and utilities.

Meanwhile, officials have not released the results of an investigation by the city's attorney that was supposed to determine who was to blame for letting the family live there at no cost and without the city council's knowledge.

Mayor Bill Nelson has called for the resignation of City Manager Art Sciorra for mishandling the situation. Sciorra says he's not at fault and blames the former city planner for not following his orders.
