Old Potsdam Postcards On Display At Museum

Postcards have a way of preserving local history.

At the Potsdam Public Museum, staff member Fred Rollins has loaned a few from his personal collection for an exhibit of the village's Main and Market street areas in years gone by.

Many of the postcards are rarely seen photos of the downtown area.

"They span from around 1900 to the 1980s I would say. So there's a little horse and buggy action and some sepia tones, and black and whites and colored images," said Mimi Van Deusen, museum curator.

The exhibit will be in place for another couple of months.

Rollins plans to loan another group of his postcards centering on the churches of Potsdam.
