It was warm over the weekend, but that didn't stop people from skating at the Watertown fairgrounds arena.
It was the first open skate of the season Saturday. Kids and adults alike dusted off their skates, laced up and hit the ice.
The ice was laid down last week and is open for the rest of the season.
"It gives the children something to do," said skater Jennifer Simpson, "so we really enjoy it."
"I'm at a birthday party right now," Nick Mesina said, "just here to have fun."
Soon, there will be more than open skating. The Privateers pro hockey team will soon be hitting the ice for their first practice in October.
