"Operation Hang Up"

State Police will be stepping up enforcement this week - cracking down on distracted drivers.

The campaign, called "Operation Hangup", will target motorists that use their cell phones and other electronic devices behind the wheel.

That is now a primary offense, worth three points on your license, thanks to a new law passed last summer.

State Police in the Troop B area, which includes St. Lawrence County, will be out in unmarked police cars...to increase their ability to catch distracted drivers in the act.

State Police across New york will be out in force to hand out tickets beginning Monday. The enhanced enforcement campaign will continue through April 29th.
