Pair Indicted In Fatal Hit-And-Run

A St. Lawrence County Grand Jury has indicted two Potsdam residents in connection with an alleged hit-and-run accident two months ago that left a 59 year old woman dead.

Forty-four year old Laurel Randall of 16 Debra Drive was named in an eight-count indictment charging her with vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assault, tampering with physical evidence, leaving the scene of an incident without reporting it, and aggravated driving while intoxicated.
 
Her 48 year old passenger,Stephen Coates of Potsdam, was indicted for tampering with evidence.
 
Randall allegedly left the scene after she struck and killed Fuli Wu on March 30 as Wu was walking along May Road in Potsdam.
 
Police reports indicate Randall's blood alcohol content was 0.21 percent.
 
The indictment also alleges Randall and Coates tried to conceal the crime by hiding the damaged 2007 Chevrolet in Coates's 4 Missouri Avenue garage.
