Pay Ending For Suspended Gouverneur Police Officer

A Gouverneur police officer on suspension with pay since September remains on suspension but, effective Monday, will no longer be paid.

Village trustees met in special session Thursday morning and voted four to one to stop paying Steve Young, but continue his administrative leave.
Trustees also are moving forward with bringing administrative charges against Young for possible misconduct.
A source tells 7 News that Young allegedly used village-owned gasoline in his personal vehicle.
Mayor Ronald McDougall says "the resolution speaks for itself at this time" and declined any further comment.
State police have been conducting a criminal investigation into the allegations.
Young, a 14-year veteran of the police force, is also chief of the Gouverneur fire department.
