Philadelphia Teen Killed in Car Accident

A teenager is dead following a one-car crash in Jefferson County Sunday morning.

State police say 18 year-old Nancy Lapp of Ore Bed Road in Philadelphia died when she lost control of her car on the ice- and snow-covered roadway while traveling north on County Route 26 in the town of Antwerp.

Police say Lapp's car went off the road and struck a tree. Officials say "unsafe speed" could have played a role in the crash. Lapp was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lapp was a 2011 graduate of Indian River High School and salutatorian of her class.
