Playing Matchmaker For Businesses

It was speed dating for businesses at Jefferson Community College in Watertown.

More than 70 small businesses, which offer a product or service which may be of interest to the government, packed the Jules Center at JCC for Matchmaker 2013.

Here's how it works: the businesses were given ten minutes to meet with representatives from the military, federal agencies, as well as state and local municipalities to try to get their business.

"They get to meet potential new vendors for them. It's great for the small business from the standpoint that they can actually find more opportunity and a diverse market," said organizer Steve Barr.

"There really are the decision-makers here," said Laura Kauffman, who attended the event on behalf of Blue Rock Energy.

The North Country Procurement Technical Assistance Center and the Small Business Development Center were in charge of the event.
