Plea Bargain Considered In Attempted Murder Case

A former St. Lawrence County corrections officer facing four counts of attempted murder in an alleged domestic road rage incident involving his family may be headed to a plea bargain.

33 year old Douglas Matthews of Miner Street Road, Canton, remains jailed on $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond after appearing in court Wednesday.

Matthews is alleged to have used his vehicle to ram a car carrying his mother in law, his wife and two young sons off the road causing it tooverturn with his vehicle coming to rest on top.

In the plea offer under consideration, Matthews would serve five years behind bars with three years post-release supervision.
