As trick-or-treaters are about to hit the streets, Canton police are asking people to be careful in the wake of an attack last week.
A St. Lawrence University student was walking alone on West Street on October 25 when she was attacked. That attacker remains at large.
Police have released surveillance video of the suspect just before the attack.
The video was turned over to Homeland Security for experts there to enhance the image so the suspect can be identified.
Police say people should be vigilant and walk in pairs or groups after dark.
"At this time, we're asking the public to be aware, especially with trick-or-treaters coming out this week," said police officer Chris Flint.
Flint said parents should go trick-or-treating with their kids and college students and residents alike should "travel in pairs, stay in safe lighting and just take the normal precautions so that something doesn't happen."
The suspect is believed to be about six feet tall and balding. He was last seen wearing a tan hoodie, blue jeans and tan boots.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Canton police at 386-4561.
