Political Note: North Country Congressional Seat Not On Block
The Washington Post has analyzed what seat in Congress could be cut next year in redistricting, and the north country's 23rd Congressional District isn't on the list.
New York has to lose two congressional seats next year. One will be Anthony Weiner's old seat in New York City. (You remember Weiner, whose career in Congress imploded when he tweeted pictures of his privates.)
The other seat cut will come from upstate.
Washington Post political writer Aaron Blake reviews the options for cutting a district and does not list the 23rd among his six most likely targets. Of course, redistricting is months away and a lot could change, but Blake's reasoning is laid out plainly and on the face of it makes sense.
