Newly released census numbers show Jefferson County was the fastest growing upstate New York county over the past two years.
The population increased by around 4,000 people, or about 3.5 percent.
In Lewis County, the population remained relatively stable, increasing about half a percent.
There was growth in St. Lawrence County, too, but but only .3 percent.
Overall, the number of New Yorkers increased 1 percent in the past two years. That's mostly due to the growth of New York City, which now has its highest population ever at 8.3 million people.
