A Newton Falls man was listed in critical condition at a Vermont hospital Friday morning after his motorcycle collided with a tractor-trailer Thursday afternoon.
St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies say the motorcyclist suffered "extensive leg and body trauma" in the accident that happened at 3:45 p.m. on State Route 72 in the Town of Potsdam.
The tractor-trailer allegedly drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a motorcycle driven by Ronald L. Swinyer, 50, of Newton Falls.
Police say Swinyer suffered extensive leg and body trauma and was taken by helicopter to Fletcher-Allen Hospital in Burlington.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Jesse Ferguson, 28, of Potsdam, wasn't injured.
Deputies say Ferguson entered Swinyer's lane as he passed a vehicle that was parked partway on the highway.
Charges are pending, police say.
