Potsdam, Canton Schools Agree To Study Merging

Two north country school districts took steps toward merging Tuesday night.

The boards of education in the Canton and Potsdam school districts voted to move forward with studying the possibility of merging.
The votes were taken during the boards' annual reorganization meetings.
Potsdam superintendent Pat Brady and Canton superintendent William Gregory have previously said the two districts should consider merging in order to avoid fiscal insolvency.
State grants are available to cover a portion of the estimated $50,000 cost of the study.
