Potsdam Woman Killed In Head-On CrashA 74 year old Potsdam woman was killed Sunday afternoon following a head-on collision in St. Lawrence County. It happened at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Route 11 in the town of Potsdam. Sheriff's deputies said Eleanor Uffer of 11 State Street was traveling south when her car went into the oncoming lane and struck another vehicle. Uffer was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday. The driver of the other car, 20 year old Zachary Benson of Gouverneur, and a passenger in his vehicle, suffered minor injuries. Officials said no charges are expected and there was no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
