Service has been restored to all of the over 8,000 customers who lost power in southern Jefferson County Friday morning.

The National Grid website shows no customers without power as of around 4 p.m.

National Grid spokesperson Virginia Limmiatis says nearly 8,200 customers lost power around 6:40 a.m. because of an equipment malfunction at the company's west Adams substation.

The map at left shows the extent of the original outage.

Limmiatis says as crews were troubleshooting the problem, they were picking up customers intermittently.

Some customers who had power restored were getting dropped again as crews switched things around as they tried to figure out what equipment is at fault.

Affected by the initial outage were residents and businesses in the towns of Adams, Ellisburg, Henderson, Lorraine, Rodman, Worth and Hounsfield.
