Feedback: Hammond Man Uses Social Media To Search For Kidney
A St. Lawrence County man is using the social website Facebook to try to find a kidney donor.
Scott Kron of Hammond is racing against time so his job will still be waiting for him when he's healthy again.
The 44 year old husband and father of six has a rare medical condition and, in January, he went on dialysis.
Kron needs dialysis three times a week and can no longer work or perform his duties as a volunteer firefighter.
"I want to support my family, fix my house up, be here for my grandkids," he said.
Kron is on a waiting list for a kidney, but his job with the town of Hammond is only being held until August, which means he needs the surgery soon.
He created a Facebook page called "Scott Needs a Kidney" and he hopes someone will step up and be a match.
Kron says his bills are piling up -- and time is running out.
"I just want to get it done and get back to work," he said. "I've been working since I was 15 years old."
"I was unemployed once in all my life and this has been really hard to deal with, just to sit here and not be able to do much of anything."
Anyone who would like to be considered as a potential donor for Scott can call Erie County Medical Center at (716) 898-4353 and speak with Shelly Moran about the donor testing process.
Even if you can't give a kidney, you still may be able to lend a hand by clicking here.
