Program Helps You To "Shed Your Meds"

Do you have a medicine cabinet full of unused, unwanted and outdated prescription drugs?

Don't flush them down the toilet or throw them out with the trash.

There's a way to get rid of them safely for free.

State Senator Patty Ritchie, the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and the Ogdensburg Police Department are inviting you to "shed your meds."

There is no limit to the number or types of medications that can be brought in for disposal.

However, liquid medicines, needles and other sharps will not be accepted.

"They pose a danger to children and pets," said Ritchie (R. - 48th District).

You can "shed your meds" from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Ogdensburg Fire Department.

The fire station is located at 718 Ford Street in Ogdensburg.
