Feedback: Religious Statue, Other Property Vandalized In Massena

A group of teenagers is believed to be responsible for a significant vandalism spree in the village of Massena.

A statue of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus was allegedly spray painted by the teens.

Other damages included the spray painting of the front steps of the George Arcet residence at 90 Woodlawn Avenue, a cement wall on Beach Street and a building owned by David Leary on beach Street.

Village Police arrested 18 year old Zachary Pitts of 224 Center Street.

He has been charged with five separate counts of making graffiti, criminal mischief and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

Pitts remains in the St.Lawrence County Jail on $5,000 bail.

A 14 year old male is also facing similar charges and is being petitioned into Family Court.

Massena Policle Chief Timmy Currier tells 7 News as many as 6 to 8 individuals may have been involved in the graffiti incident.

Additional arrests are pending.
