Reminder: Hay Crop Report Deadline Approaching

Tools

Despite the government shutdown, the deadline for farmers who report hay crops to the Farm Service Agency (FSA) has not changed.

For a second year, that deadline is November 15, said Glenn Bullock, executive director of the Jefferson County Farm Service Agency.

Bullock cautioned farmers that they will have to pay a penalty if they miss the deadline, which did not change even though the FSA was closed for more than two weeks by the shutdown.

"Being out because of the government shutdown, they did not change that November 15 date," said Bullock. "So it shortened the window for us being able to get you in the door, producers in the door. That's my concern."

Jefferson County's FSA office is located on Route 232 (Rice's Road) just outside of Watertown. The phone number is 315-782-7289.
