Replica Schooner Makes Stop In Clayton

The Antique Boat Museum in Clayton is playing host to a special visitor.

The "Lois McClure" is a full-scale replica of an 1862 sailing canal boat.

The 88-foot schooner is on display at the museum's dock until Wednesday.

The vessel was built by the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum in Burlington, Vermont.

Workers at the museum are noticing a common reaction among visitors.

"There's a true appreciation for it being here," said Michael Folsom, director of communications at the museum.

The schooner will continue its trip up the St. Lawrence later this week.

It will make stops in Alexandria Bay, Ogdensburg and Morristown.
