Republican Congressional Candidates to Meet in Debate

Republican congressional candidate Kellie Green has challenged Republican congressional candidate Matt Doheny to a debate.

Greene and her supporters hand delivered the challenge in a letter to Doheny's campaign headquarters on Court Street in Watertown Monday afternoon.

With only three weeks before the primary, Greene says it is time for Doheny to recognize her as a challenger.

"It seems as if he doesn't even want to acknowledge that I'm in the rae or that there is a primary coming up," Greene said.

"I don't think he would have challenged me to a debate," she added.

Doheny's campaign manager accepted the challenge on behalf of the congressional candidate.

"We thank Kellie for her interest. We look forward to a spirited discussion of the issues that those in the north country, Adirondacks and Capital Region face every day," Jude Seymour said in a statement late Monday afternoon.

The place and time of the debate has not been decided.
