Restaurant Wants City To Let It Use Deck

Maggie's on the River wants to bring back Thursday deck parties.  Now it's up to the Watertown City Council to give the okay.

When it meets tonight, lawmakers will consider a request by owner Reg Schweitzer to allow Maggie's to use the deck from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the next nine Thursdays.

The deck is part of the city-owned River Walk.

"The weather stays nice. It stays light pretty late so if we could just keep the fun and good times going out there, we'd like to do that," said Bernie Berhardt, Maggie's general manager.

Council approved a similar request last year for extended hours.

If the city approves Maggie's request, the deck would remain open for use by the public.
