Retired Investigator Killed In Accident

A retired State Police investigator was killed Monday in a head-on crash involving a tractor-trailer on State Route 37 in the Franklin County town of Westville.

State Police say 49 year old Tony Bailey of Malone drifted into the opposite lane and hit an oncoming rig operated by 45 year old Michael Bono of Central Square.

Rescue crews extricated Bailey from his 2012 Chevrolet and transported him to Alice Hyde Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Bono was treated for minor injuries and released.

Bailey was a well known investigator who had worked out of the Canton barracks prior to his retirement. A State Police collision reconstruction unit is assisting in the investigation.
