Road work could slow down the commute for some people in the town of Champion for the next week or so.

Beginning Wednesday, the state transportation department will be milling and paving State Route 3 between Great Bend and Deferiet in the town of Champion.

Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot vehicle.

Crews expect to have the work wrapped up by May 24.

As with all construction zones, transportation officials urge motorists to drive with caution.

Drivers can get real-time travel information by calling 511 or visiting www.511NY.org.
