Ronald McDonald House Awards Grants to Local OrganizationsRonald McDonald House Charities of Northern New York, Inc. is giving nearly $24,000 dollars in grant money to four different local area children's organizations.
At a ceremony in the McDonald's restaurant on Arsenal Street in Watertown, the charity presented checks to the Fort La Presentation Association,.the Jefferson County Historical Society, the North Country Children's Clinic, and Transitional Services of NNY. The programs these organizations create will not only directly benefit children and their families in Northern New York, but also will hopefully improve the future of our community, said James O'Donnell, President of RMHC of Northern New York, Inc. Fort La Presenation Association is receiving $3,800 to fund the 2012 Living History Day, an annual event that allows children to see, hear, and touch as they move from station to station, meeting artists, craftspeople, musicians, reenactors, and historians. The $4,000 grant awarded to the Jefferson County Historical Society will cover expenses for supplies for a new museum display called "Children Education Engagement--Model Trains Teaching Local History". The North Country Children's Clinic was awarded $12,931 to purchase CPT II, Asperger's spectrum diagnosis materials, and a laptop to be shared throughout the community and school-based health centers to properly diagnose and treat patients. Transitional Living Services of NNY, Inc. is receiving $3,200 to update the recreational area at the Children and Youth Community Residence. Ronald McDonald House Charities has granted over $776,000 in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties since its inception in 1997.
