Work starts Monday on a bridge in southern Jefferson County.

The state transportation department says traffic on the State Route 177 bridge will be reduced to one lane and will be controlled by temporary traffic lights.

The bridge spans the north branch of Sandy Creek in the town of Rodman.

Work is expected to be completed this fall.

As with all construction zones, transportation officials urge motorists to drive with caution.

Drivers can get real-time travel information by calling 511 or visiting www.511NY.org.
