"Ruff" Training For New Police Dogs

If you asked these guys how their last 12 weeks were, they'd tell you was "ruff."

Two dogs are completing their training this week to become police dogs.

Niko, the lighter colored dog, will join the Watertown City Police force and Lobo will be working for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

Trainers say the dogs are doing great.

"The rest of the force is ready to call and ask him for help," said Officer Mark Sutton of the Watertown Police Department.

"I'm in my 40s now so it's a little bit difficult to keep up with an 18 month old German shepherd puppy," said Deputy Jeff Froelich of the Sheriff's Department.

The dogs are trained to help police in searches, tracking suspects and taking down criminals.
