Saturday: Deputies Probe Early Morning Accident
A Potsdam man suffered injured a back injury early Saturday when his van hit a tree and overturned.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies said Frank J.Kaiser, 36, of Route 56, was behind the wheel at 2 a.m. on county route 47 in the Town of Stockholm.
Deputies said Kaiser lost control of the van, went of one side of the road first, over-corrected and went off the other side, where he hit a tree and an earth embankment.
Kaiser was taken a Burlington, Vermont hospital for treatment of fractured vertebrae; his passenger, Ray L. Bush, 34, of Norfolk, suffered facial injuries and was treated at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
The statement from the sheriff's department calls the accident a "DWI" accident, and notes that the investigation is continuing, but there is no further mention of anyone being charged.
