It's been more than a year since New York's controversial gun control law know as the SAFE Act was signed into law and St. Lawrence County lawmakers are taking another step against it.
The Democrat-controlled St. Lawrence County Legislature voted last March to oppose the bill's content and asked it be replaced. Now legislators are ready to go even farther and are calling for the revocation of the law in a bi-partisan resolution.
Legislators not only oppose the use of the county seal on pistol permit recertifications and other SAFE Act paperwork, but want the law repealed calling it another unfunded state mandate that infringes on the rights of law abiding citizens.
County lawmakers will vote on the SAFE Act repeal resolution at the March 3 meeting.
