SUNY Canton Mourns Death Of Richard Miller

The SUNY Canton campus community is mourning the loss of one of its most dedicated supporters.

Canton police said 93 year old Richard Miller died at his West Main Street home Friday morning.

According to police, Miller apparently fell and struck his head on steps while unloading groceries from his car.

His body was found by friends who went to check on his well being after he failed to show up at a local restaurant for coffee.

Miller, who came to Canton in 1946, had been involved with the college for more than half of its existence as both a faculty member and later as a major contributor.

Miller was a retired electrical engineering technology professor who contributed more than $1 million to the college.

The campus center was named in his honor in 2003.
