SUNY Canton's New Acting President Talks Shared Services

Tools

SUNY Canton's new acting president is on campus this week meeting with administration, faculty and staff.

Joseph Hoffman takes over the presidency from interim president Carli Schiffner.

Schiffner is leaving Canton for new employment in Washington state.

Hoffman comes to Canton from SUNY Maritime, where he worked as the college provost and vice president for academic affairs from 2006 to 2012.

He said he supports the shared services concept being pushed by SUNY.

"Shared services is not the dirty word that many people think it is. It is if you want to share everything...If you look at it as there are things that we can do together that will make each of the institutions better, let's do it," he said.

Hoffman will officially begin his new duties June 1.
