SUNY Potsdam Student Describes Academy Awards Experience

From Hollywood to the north country - a SUNY Potsdam student is back on campus after what she describes as an "awesome" experience of handing Oscar statuettes to presenters at the Academy Awards.
 
Junior theater major ChaRon Brabham of Brooklyn was selected for the honor as part of a National Oscar Experience Talent Search, sponsored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and MTV-U.

The aspiring filmmaker was one of six winners in the national competition chosen for a black and white short film and video entry.

She won by submitting a 30-second video answering the question, "How will you contribute to the future of movies?"

She appeared on stage during the live ceremony and handed the awards to celebrity presenters.

"It was an absolutely amazing experience...It was so surreal. I still can't believe it," said Brabham.

Brabham, who also is a student ambassador for the college's admissions office, says her goal is to eventually work in the motion picture industry.
