A Jefferson County grain company is receiving a federal grant to help it buy new equipment.
Robbins Family Grain of Sackets Harbor will receive $35,000 to buy an energy-efficient grain drier.
The grant comes from the USDA's Rural Energy for American grant program and was announced Friday by U.S. senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.
The new drier will help the farm reduce propane emissions and cut costs.
"It’s a win-win for the farm and the surrounding community that will brighten the future for both," Schumer said.
"This investment will help us to move forward with critical improvements to our energy efficiency," Ron Robbins said.
"Investing in this kind of critical infrastructure is a common sense solution to supporting our small farmers and helping the environment," Gillibrand said.
