Salmon Run Mall Bans All Tobacco Products

If you're going to the Salmon Run Mall, leave your cigarettes and other tobacco products at home.

The mall's owner, Pyramid Management Group, announced that all of their properties are now 100 percent tobacco-free.

The policy went into effect Thursday.

This means cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco and any other similar substances or instruments that are lit or burning such as electronic cigarettes are prohibited.

The policy covers the entire property, both inside and outside, including all entry points, hallways, sidewalks, loading dock areas, parking lots and construction areas.

It applies to all mall associates, tenant employees, vendors, delivery people, contractors, subcontractors and guests.

"The company just felt it was a good thing to do for our customers and our employees, just making it a safer and healthier environment for our shoppers as well as those of us that have to be here every day," said Karla Woods, the mall's marketing director.

The policy applies to Pyramid's 15 shopping malls throughout New York and Massachusetts.

The Carousel Center in Syracuse has been smoke free for almost 5 years.
