Saturday: Man Held After Heroin Bust In St. Lawrence County

A Herkimer County man was ordered held without bail Friday after allegedly being caught with 190 packets of heroin.

St. Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies said Robert W. Deacon, 29, of Jordanville was stopped in a vehicle safety checkpoint on County Route 24 in the Town of Edwards.

A Sheriff's Department K9 dog caught the scent of the heroin and alerted deputies and state police.

Deacon was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance third degree with intent to sell, a class B felony, and ordered held without bail.

State police and deputies has assistance from county drug task force members from the Canton, Gouverneur and Ogdensburg police departments.
