A Gouverneur woman whose body was found Saturday died of hypothermia, according to St. Laqwrence County Coroner June Wood.

Elizabeth Smith's body was examined Sunday and her death was ruled accidental, according to Coroner Wood.

There were no other injuries and no sign of a fall, she said.

Smith, 40, was found in a wooded area off Factory Street Saturday afternoon. The area was described by police as separating the Kinney Drugs warehouse and the Larch Circle apartment complex.

The body was found by someone - it's not clear who - who reported the discovery to police.

Smith was reported missing last Sunday after telling her family she was going out for a walk, but never returned. Police searched during the week, to no avail.
