The city council wants to make sure a piece of Watertown history is preserved.
On Monday night, the council is being asked to spend nearly 200 thousand dollars to help preserve the stone arch on Arch Street in the city. The arch is in need of repairs to the mortar and will get a protective waterproof membrane. Arch Street connects Court Street and Newell Street and once carried railroad tracks over what is now the Black River Parkway. Money for the project would come out of state highway improvement project monies.
