Saying Farewell to Father Richard Kennedy

Father Richard Kennedy has been with Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Watertown since 1981.

Now he is training Father Jonas Tandayu to take his place when he leaves in a couple of weeks.

Kennedy says he has worked with great folks here.

"The people in the north country are exceptionally good," he said.

Father Kennedy is leaving to manage a retirement home for priest in Center Valley, Pennsylvania.

Father Jonas Tandayu says he knows he has big shoes to fill.

"The people will miss him very much," he said.

Father Tandayu is right to think people will miss Kennedy.

Sister Diane Ulsamer has worked with him for the past 7 years and says Father Kennedy is one of a kind.

"Father Kennedy is very gentle, very caring, understanding and he's a great spiritual leader," she said.

Father Kennedy says he is excited to see what the future holds, but he will never forget the people of the north country that helped him feel at home.
