School Mourns Death Of Student

The Lisbon school community is mourning the unexpected death of a 10th grade student.

School officials say 17 year old Victor Novosel died Wednesday night after what is being described as "a tragic accident in his home."

School Superintendent Erin Woods says teachers were told of the teen's death at an 8 a.m. meeting Thursday. School was delayed an hour while faculty were notified.

She says a special "grief room" has been set up in the library where students and staff can go. A crisis team of counselors is also available to meet with grieving students and faculty members.

Few details on the accident are available. State police said Thursday no criminality was involved, and the matter was being investigated as an apparent suicide. On Friday, St. Lawrence County coroner Jamie Sienkiewycz ruled the death accidental, according to state police.
