Search For Perfect Olive Oil Leads To New Venture
A quest to answer a cooking question has led a father and son into a business venture.
Geoff and Gary Puccia of Watertown are selling their own extra-virgin olive oil.
The two got into the business after Geoff, the chef and owner of Pete's Restaurant, went looking for the perfect olive oil.
He found what he was looking for in Italy and it was so good, he and his father, Gary, decided to sell their own brand of the stuff.
"It's first, cold-pressed extra-virgin olive oil, so you get a very ripe, fruity, nutty flavor -- very vibrant colors, a very buttery consistency," Geoff Puccia said.
"We're in negotiations right now with Price Chopper," said Gary Puccia. "It's our first major store."
"Hopefully, Hannaford will follow suit and we'd also like to take to the folks at Kinney's, too," the elder Puccia said.
The Puccias' olive oil is grown, pressed and bottled in California by an Italian family and is sold for $10 a bottle at Pete's.
