Senator Gillibrand Wants Alcoa To Keep Commitment To Massena

New York's junior U.S. Senator says Alcoa should live up to its commitments in Massena.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand made an appearance Thursday morning at a forum at Jefferson Community College.

Last week Alcoa served notice it may lay off over 300 workers at its East plant in Massena.

This, despite an agreement for low cost hydropower in exchange for maintaining at least 900 jobs at its two Massena plants.

“We hope they will stick with the agreement and continue to modernize and find out how they can work together well with the north country because we have the best workers in the world,” said Gillibrand (D. - NY).

Gillibrand said her office is monitoring the situation on a daily basis.
