Sick Juror Delays Opening Statements In Oxley Trial

The start of Wayne Oxley's third murder trial has been postponed until Wednesday.

Opening statements were scheduled to begin Tuesday morning in St. Lawrence County Court, but were called off because one of the jurors was sick.

Rather than proceed with an alternate, Judge Jerome Richards decided to postpone the case. He told the other jurors the sick juror expected to be able to come to court Wednesday.

Oxley, of Ogdensburg, is accused of murdering his neighbor, Bernard Trickey, with a baseball bat in 2005.

His original conviction was overturned by a state court and a second trial in 2010 ended with a hung jury.
