Fort Drum said a soldier was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital after being injured on post Tuesday.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, emergency personnel were called to 10614 5th Armored Division Drive following a report of a stabbing.

Fort Drum would only say that a soldier was injured at 2 p.m. at a barracks on post and "the circumstances are under investigation."

Officials released no further information.

(Editor's note: we originally reported that Fort Drum confirmed there was a stabbing of a 10th Mountain Division soldier. Officials said only that a soldier was injured.)
