Soldier Says He's Happy To Be Home, But It's Not Always EasyDozens of flights bringing thousands of soldiers home from war will be coming into Fort Drum over the next several weeks. The 3rd Brigade Combat Team fought in Afghanistan for a year. The Spartans lost 22 soldiers. The homecomings on post have started, with two flights already in. One of those soldiers who is back is Spc. Norberto Osbourne, an information technology specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Company. Osbourne was live on 7 News by phone Wednesday morning to tell us how it feels to be home and some of the struggles it brings. "It's difficult at times because you get used to being overseas and get used to being by yourself," he said. And when you get back, "you have to get used to the regular life in the United States," he said. "It's easy for some, harder for others."
More than 3,500 soldiers will come back to Fort Drum through February and March. Click on the picture to hear the whole interview. |
