Soldier Shocks Kids With Surprise Homecoming

It was a surprise homecoming.

Major Del Boyer was reunited with his family after he surprised his kids at the SUNY Potsdam International Basketball Camp.

The kids, Cassie and Vincent, thought Boyer wasn't coming home from Afghanistan until August.

Boyer and his wife, Karri, found out he would be home for the camp earlier this week and planned the surprise with SUNY Potsdam.

Cassie and Vincent hadn't seen their father in seven months.

"I didn't really know what to do," Cassie Boyer said. "It was more like, shock, like I was shocked that he was here, like I couldn't talk, I couldn't move."

"We wanted to surprise them," Maj. Boyer said. "I've never been able to surprise them, all the deployments I've been on. It just so happened to be I was lucky enough to get a flight out of Kuwait."

"I loved it, it was awesome," Karri Boyer said. "They were so surprised. They've never been surprised before."

Boyer is on a two-week leave from Afghanistan to spend time with his family.
