Soldiers Invade Alexandria Bay For River Fest

It was a busy day in Alexandria Bay Thursday as thousands of Fort Drum soldiers took part in River Fest.

Soldiers and their families were treated to boat tours around the Thousand Islands and stops at Boldt Castle.

Soldiers also enjoyed a picnic in the pavilion overlooking the St. Lawrence River.

"It gets the soldiers and their families off the base to see the great outlying communities and what they can provide during their assignment here at Fort Drum," said Gene Spencer of Fort Drum Family and Morale Welfare and Recreation.

Some soldiers said River Fest was their first visit to Alexandria bay, but it won't be their last!
