Two students were taken to the hospital after a deer ran into a South Jefferson Central School District bus.

It happened Thursday afternoon on Route 11 in the village of Adams near the fire hall.

Superintendent Jamie Moesel said the bus was transporting between 45 and 50 students when the deer ran into the vehicle.

She said two students were taken to Samaritan Medical Center as a precaution, but there were no serious injuries.

The rest of the students were taken home by another school bus or by parents who came to pick them up.

The deer was killed.
